Getting to an enabling environment that sufficiently protects consumers and provides supervisors with the information they need while ensuring institutions have space to innovate, flourish or stumble is a balancing act.

We've advised financial institutions (financial cooperatives, MFI, building societies, cooperative banks) and policy makers in over 70 countries, the European Union and through dozens of global efforts on how to achieve this balance.

Our experience working in public, non-profit and private sectors, domestically in the U.S. and our work globally help us deliver unconventional solutions.

Some of our policy experiences include

  • Developing recommendations to improve legislation & regulation in the Eastern Caribbean and           Rwanda.
  • Authored the Malawi Financial Coop Act in 2008 & Lesotho Financial Coop Bill of 2016.
  • Co-founding the International Credit Union Regulators' Network (ICURN) and the European               Network of Credit Unions and serving as their director.
  • Developing the Central Bank of Suriname's policy framework for deposit insurance.
